Here’s a new idea for a blurb I’ve been working through. This is for Dolor and Shadow.
Kallan stares into the green lights painting the blue-black night sky like a canvas. Her eyes fill with hate as you hold your breath and wait.“Too long I’ve hunted the Ljosalfar king and Gunir,” she says. “Too long, I watched them spill the blood of my people.
Children made orphans by their sword. I watched Odinn take my father, slain in the back by the very king who I loathe. I will stop at nothing until I see his corpse at the end of my blade.”Kallan turns and flicks her wrist, igniting a ball of Seidr flame that consumes her hand. The queen cradles the fire and glares at King Rune who stands, listening to her every word.“I am Kallan, daughter of Eyolf, Queen of Lorlenalin and I will not rest until every last Ljosalfar is dead.”“What her highness isn’t telling you…” Rune rebuts, keeping his eyes on Kallan and her Seidr flame, “is that I saved her from the Fae goddess who laid waste to her fair city. And when the Dvergar drugged and carried her into the caves buried within the mountains of Jotunheim, it was I who tracked her and carried her crushed body from the hole from whence I found her. What she isn’t telling you, dear reader, is that the army of King Olaf hunts us across Midgard. And if she has any hope of surviving this sodden swamp of Men, she must side with me and do exactly as I say.”
“I’ll not follow a heathen!” Kallan spats.
“I did not kill your father.”
“Coward!”
“Careful, princess,” Rune warns, his patience ebbing. “I’m your only ally in this nightmare and we have a long…long way to go.”
