“Naked” Series by Gisela Hausmann

Gisela HausmannI picked up this book not entirely certain what to expect and was blown away with the simple, in your face, honesty. At only 56 pages (print length) Gisela did not waste my time with her priceless words of wisdom. Being engaged in indie author events and advice, I’ve read a number of other books like this one to pass on to authors. Previous books have left me irate to find poorly written, pompous advice that were far longer than they ever should have been. Hausmann’s books? Not wordy at all. Straight forward to the point. Priceless knowledge. Naked No Fluff Books are an in out done deal read that leave you far more knowledgeable than when you first started reading.

I gave this five stars for her priceless, concise writing brimming with priceless information for any author!

I finished this book and will be writing a review for it shortly…

Two months ago, before I was a published author, I was asked if I would read my reviews and how I felt about them. Unlike most authors, I didn’t care about reviews and made no effort to seek them out. Two months and a book later, I’m circling my reviews like a hawk, evaluating each word, each star, each tone for signs that a reader praised my written word. I had no idea what I was doing.

Gisela’s book put into light the truth about reviews and how to get them. But, she doesn’t stop there. She goes on to discuss author etiquette: A topic that can break your career if handled improperly.

Gisela isn’t a writer talking up a topic she thinks she knows a little something about. Gisela is one of the Amazon top reviewers and has an astounding career behind her in writing, media, and literature. Gisela knows. And I would be a fool to shrug off her wonderful words of precise wisdom.

*Additional note…This book speaks often of writing emails and I followed this read up with Gisela’s Naked Words 2.0 The Effective 157 -Word Email. “About Getting Book Reviews” reads very much like a part 1 of 2. Read this book! Then go read The Effective 157 -Word Email. You won’t regret it.

I rated this book 5 stars for its precision, excellent and concise writing, and invaluable advice.

Gisela Hausmann 3Last night at 10:00 PM I finished “The Effective 157-Word Email by Gisela Hausmann. I rated it, scratched out a quick note on what I wanted to say in the review, and went to sleep. Today, not 24 hours later (and just before I wrote this review), I received this email from a prestigious company.

Hi,

Thank you,

[Name]

I had sent a request for my login password via email. The company wrote back asking for more info. I provided said information and this email was their response. I copy/pasted this right from the email to here. What you see, is what I got. As I ponder if ever I would see my password again, the first thought that came to mind was Gisela’s book.

The Effective 157-Word Email covers email etiquette do’s and don’t’s in a world that revolves around email. “157-Word Email” is not just for writers. It is for anyone who ever plans to email anyone ever again. Phenomenal read. Short, sweet, precise, and to the point. There is a very high probability that every professional I know will be getting a copy of this book for Christmas this year. This books is brimming with priceless knowledge that will pay for itself over and again.

Post-review…That email was received five days ago, and I still have not heard from the company.

Walking into life as an indie author, I had a number of questions:

How do I enroll my books to win awards?
How do I get on the radio?
and, of course, How do I get on TV?

This book takes all the worries and unknowns out of getting on TV. The information was insightful and left me feeling confident and ready to take my marketing to the next level. As always, Gisela’s writing is bold, blunt, and brief. She never wastes my time and is a fountain of endless knowledge! As for the points laid out in this quick read, Gisela rolls out the path to Television in simple-to-follow tell-it-like-it-is steps. I plan to revise this review after I give the points in this book a try and I have results to report on! Eager to try and apply!

Gisela Hausmann 5Gisela sent this paperback to me in exchange for an honest review. As founder of Brain to Books, I go out of my way to read books of this subject for tips, hints, and general know-how to pass along to fellow authors. Gisela’s books were the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th books I read of this format and did they ever blow the others out of the water.

Where others were wordy, Gisela is not. Where the others were winded, Gisela was not. Where the other were missing some very important details, Gisela didn’t miss a thing. These books are rightly named. “Naked (no Fluff)” is right! Gisela has a way of being pristine, simple, and down to earth with her writing all while being thorough. At barely 100 pages each, I flew through these books and was eager to finish and dive into the next one. The moment I put down her first of four books, I have begun telling others about her work. And each book was just as wonderful as the last.

If you are an author, read these books. If you are in marketing, read these books. If you are in publishing, read these books. And if ever you plan to email anyone ever again, at least read The Effective 157-Word Email—a mandatory read for anyone who plans to write an email ever again. I walked away from Gisela’s books wiser to the world of marketing, publishing, and making it as an author.

Biographical Info... What you seek is my Story. Every Soul is a "Blurb" as one would read on the back of the book. But can people be "unwrapped" so easily? Most importantly, why try? I have long since learned to preserve the Savory that comes with Discovery. Learning of another Soul is a Journey. It is an Exploration. And it does not do the Soul Justice to try and condense a Soul Journey into a Bio.
